Perimenopausal and menopausal women can tell you that they’re looking for relief from the various symptoms they feel — uncomfortably hot in the average room, the brain fog and forgetfulness, changes in sex drive, etc. Those feelings are among the reasons that Dr. Roxanne Carfora, board certified anti-aging and regenerative medicine specialist, titled her presentation during the Amaezing Midlife & Beyond 2025 Women’s Summit “Hot and Furious.”
Dr. Carfora explained each of the various hormones that are fluctuating in women around menopause including estrogen, which she noted has more than 400 functions, DHEA, progesterone, testosterone and cortisol. Women as early as 35 may be impacted by the perimenopausal change in some of these hormones, Dr. Carfora explained.
Throughout her presentation, Dr. Carfora encouraged the approximately 100 women attendees to get a personalized hormone blood test. This was for several reasons including that if a woman has an imbalance in a particular area, the treatment can be targeted to her specific issue versus a more generalized treatment for Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), for instance.
