The average person does their best shopping for healthy foods at the grocery store. But given the way food is produced and distributed in the United States, even purchasing organic items might mean that additives and other not-so-good things are being consumed by us.
So what’s the solution? Linda Pinckney, owner of Manifest Wellness in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, suggests purchasing foods as close to the source as possible, including at local farms, and/or incorporating nutraceuticals into your daily routine to counteract the negative impacts of additives such as BHA and aspartame.
“There are so many things we’ve been discovering in the last several years that we were told were good for us and truly weren’t,” Pinckney said, citing butter as one example. She suggests using lard or butter to cook with and eat rather than the butter alternatives because of the additives in these products.
At Manifest Wellness, Pinckney offers a variety of nutraceuticals, which are all vegan and clean products, to help people combat the impacts of our environment and foods. Pinckney herself is a user of the products, which have helped her lose weight and do better with public speaking.
While sometimes the nutraceuticals can be expensive, Pinckney stresses that nothing is more important or worthwhile than a person’s health.
